Camden Hills State Park: A Top Maine Tourist Attraction

January 12th, 2010 . by admin

Just a few miles north of the quiet coastal community of Camden, Maine is a hidden gem. One of the leading Maine tourist attractions by most standards, Camden Hills State Park is chock-full of beautiful scenery and breathtaking panoramic views. From here, you can easily see much of the mid-coast Maine coastline and the offshore islands in Penobscot Bay. If you are traveling though Maine, these semi-aerial vistas are well worth the time it takes to drive the few miles off the coast it takes to see them. And even though the summit views from Mt Battie can be appreciated almost immediately, you could spend an entire day experiencing this 5,500 acre state park and still not see all it has to offer! One of the most spectacular destinations is the top of Maiden Cliff;  a giant rock outcropping overlooking Megunticook Lake over 800-feet high. In addition, there are over 30 miles of hiking trails and a large camping site with hot showers and toilets. For more information. Call 207-236-0849.
