Who is Delecia and why is she running for the 53rd District: |
 Dear Friends and Family
My name is Delecia Holt and my nickname is "Mother Theresa" - I am often chided because I have never smoked, drank alcohol, used drugs, or been permissive. But, don't let the nickname fool you, I'm human and have faults, like everyone else. I do have one vice. I love flavorful foods and coffee. Since I grew up in a family of modest means I had to learn to cook the foods I could not afford to purchase at expensive restaurants. Thus, I have become an excellent cook (hint, hint). I enjoy good food, good friends and insist upon a good dose of laughter in my daily life. I am tough, but I always attempt to be fair!
You may recall that I was the only female, Republican candidate that ran in the 50th Congressional District in 2006. I learned a great deal about myself and others and am thankful for the experience, it has made me a better person and has humbled me in ways I could have never imagine, mainly due to the thousands of people I met and spoke to face-to-face. I am greatful for their support and conversation.
I am what many would call a conservative, I believe in the institutin of marriage and plan to remarry in the near future (after I find a suitable man). I strongly support the 2nd Amendment, amongst others and continue to fight passionately for the rights of children, teenagers, college professionals, business owners, the elderly, our military and their families, our veterans, our men and women whom serve us locally and nationally and anyone who feels that they have been left out, left behind or just forgotten about.
I am most passionate about and dedicate my service to our MEN and WOMEN that serve in the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines, Navy and classified personnel with names that we will never know, those courageous few that "...stand on a wall and say; nothings going to hurt you tonight. Not on my watch..." (A Few Good Men)
I believe that serving as your Congressperson is my way of taking up the cause and paying forward the promise of freedom; so painfully bestowed upon us through the ultimate sacrifices of all those that have gone before us, because they loved this Country.
I promise you, when I am in Congress, I will never forget that they are our Children, Husbands, Wives, Mothers, and Fathers. They are our family and we must do what is right to protect them and bring them home safely while protecting this country!
On May 16, 2006 - I announced my candidacy to represent the 53rd District of California in Congress as a Republican. I have lived and or worked in San Diego since 1983. My family has a long tradition of serving our country in the armed forces. I have been asked to serve this district and am excited by the support I have received, and I would be honored to have your support as well.
My campaign is not about Democrat, Republican, or Independent politics or personal ambition, it has and always will be about serving you with honesty, integrity, and compassion. I would appreciate it if you would take some time to explore this Website, read about me and my family. I was married to an Ethiopian for nearly 15 years. I believe in marriage and have strong family values. I look forward to re-marrying in the near future (hint hint). I have one daughter and am raising my nephew (my surrogate son). Everyone who knows me says I have an infectious laugh. I deal with stress by laughing out loud, playing tennis, reading books, authoring books, swimming, biking, watching movies, playing games with my children, playing baseball, soccer, painting, journaling and taking a moment to appreictae a sunset or just drive up the coast, to enjoy the scenery. I believe that a good meal and the company of friends can cure any stressful day.
I am one of 12 children and most of us married someone born in other countries. My family has been blessed by these marriages and the cultural diversity they bring to our lives. My family is composed of Africans, African-Americans, Arabs, Arab-Americans, Asians (Japanese, Koreans, Filipinos and Vietnamese), Asian-Americans, Caucasian-Americans, East Africans (Egyptians, Eritreans, Ethiopians, Somalis), Italians, Jews, Latin-Americans (Mexican), and others. I am Puerto Rican and African American and my daughter is Mexican, African American and Puerto Rican. So, the issue of effectively, dealing with illegal immigration touches my family on a personal level, as we still have family members that live in Mexico and other foreign countries that travel to and fro. I was taught to celebrate diversity and learn from the life experiences of others.
We might remember that :
Everyone has a story to tell. We just have to listen; to learn.
With that said, I do not believe in "illegal immigration" as I work in the field of intelligence security analysis and I am sworn to uphold the laws of the
U.S. Constitution (see the 14th Amendment). Because, my highest priority is your safety, we must make certain that the new immigration laws are fair for everyone.
As a small business owner, a homeowner who has lived in this district and a civil designer who participated in the redevelopment of this district (and most districts throughout San Diego County), I have a special fondness for the 53rd due to the myriad of cultures that thrive and breathe life into this wonderful community. I think you will find our experiences are similar and I hope this website will allow you, your family and friends to learn more about why I feel so passionate about the future of the 53rd District, and how you can get involved in making that future a reality by supporting my efforts to become the congressperson that actually, works for you!
As your Congresswoman, I will take the same passion that fuels my everyday life to Washington,D.C. and use it to serve the incredible people of the 53rd District. If elected, I can assure you that I will be a positive leader that works in a non-partisan manner and put your needs above the desires of any lawmakers, lobbyist or special interest groups. I will serve you and your family with honesty, integrity, compassion and answer, only to you!

I have a proven history of serving others in my public and private lives and will continue to serve you and your family with the same passion and unwavering principles I have exhibited throughout my career. I am a very hard worker, an over achiever and don't mind putting in long hours to work towards securing our borders, stopping illegal immigration, protecting our children, ensuring equal rights for every citizen, providing superior and inexpensive medical services and educational programs for all citizens, providing our military personnel, law enforcement and veterans the assistance they need and making certain that the needs of all Americans residing in the 53rd District are provided in a professional and timely manner.
My team and I will work diligently for you and your family.
The 53rd District requires a Congressperson that has a passion for life and understands that all life is precious and is to be cherished and celebrated.
That our military monuments (Mt. Soledad Cross), our sovereignty and individual rights are to be protected now and in the future. That everyone's life experiences are valuable and if looked at in the spirit of compassion can afford us all the strength, moral fiber, the integrity, the ethics, and virtues needed to persevere in times of controversy. I have always worked hard, done the best job possible, and worked with others to be a part of the solution. I do not believe in wasting people's time, as life is too short and time wasted is never recaptured.
Since 9/11, I have spent my life working as an intelligence security analyst to make certain that our families are safe. I ask you to join me in this critical responsibility and vote for me during the 2008 election so that we may provide this district the leadership it deserves. Throughout our tenure, we will be raising monies for our armed forces via organizations such as "the USO, and the Threehouse Foundation, Jessica's Law, Child Abuse Prevention Programs, etc. so come out and get to know us a little better while having fun and supporting your community (most are tax deductible).
